Malignant squamous cells

  • This is squamous epithelium, not the typical pseudostratified columnar epithelium. Why?
  • The cells are huge with crazy nuclei (angulated nuclear margins, hyperchromasia etc.).
  • Huge nucleoli.
  • If you use your imagination, you might be able to spot the famous (infamous) intercellular bridges, which are the hallmark of squamous malignancies.
