Mr. Potter's Prostatic Carcinoma
  • In terms of a tissue diagnosis, we have several needle biopsy fragments positive for cancer.
  • Although this is enough for a diagnosis, it's actually not enough tissue to make a judgment on the Gleason's grade or score.
  • His symptoms, PSA and bone scan all speak to metastatic carcinoma. If so, his tumor is already a Stage D2 (TNM IV).
  • Do we need to go after one of the metastatic foci to confirm the diagnosis? This would be ideal, but given his situation, it's probably not needed.
  • What common radiological aspect of bony metastases of prostate cancer might help confirm this diagnoses?

So what do we do help this guy?                                       Back
