We need to determine if Mrs. Richardson's problem is
  • due to a localized lesion or
  • is it multifocal?
  • Is it principally neural or is there a muscular component?
  • If it's neural, is it primarily central nervous system or is there a peripheral nerve element?
  • If it's neural, is it primarily a problem of gray matter or white matter?
Although you probably have some ideas as to diagnosis, we're not ready to generate a differential diagnosis yet. Lab and radiology will help a lot.
  • Basic blood work
  • CSF analysis.
  • Cerebral MRI
