The Big Picture:

Sorry to have killed off Mr. Potter like that, but I was getting tired of this project. Here's the scoop.

  • Several of his coexisting conditions are directly linked.
  • First, his coronary heart disease and CHF are separate from his prostate cancer and renal failure, but were made worse for various reasons (the old cat's cradle thing again).
  • He has advanced (stage IV) prostate cancer which lead to
    • an obstructive uropathy (hydronephrosis) and renal failure, which lead to
    • anemia and fluid retention, which lead to
    • worsening of his angina and cardiac output, which
    • brought him in.
  • The bone metastases resulted in the back pain, which was the other stimulus for him seeking medical help.
Can it get any worse?                                                    Back
