Visual Inspection Palpation
  • Start by palpating the nipple and areolar skin.
  • Use the pads of your fingers, not the tips.
  • Progress in concentric circles so as to examine the entire breast. Remember the axillary tail goes up like a tear drop towards the axilla.
  • Palpate the axilla.
