  • Joint symptoms similar to regular gout.
  • No soft tissue deposits.
  • This picture is of synovial fluid.
  • Note the many PMNs (recall, mediators of inflammation called them to the site)
  • Calcium pyrophosphate crystals are rhomboid shaped.
  • They glow blue when parallel to polarized light and yellow when at 90 degrees.
