There are several problems to be considered.
  • Obviously her arthritic symptoms.
  • She has an anemia .
  • Her white count is technically normal, but with a chronic inflammatory problem one might expect it to be higher.
Concerning the arthritic symptoms:
  • Get a physical therapy consult and
  • Have a resting splints made for her to use at night.
  • Start her on aspirin.
Her anemia, could be anemia of chronic disease, the lab will help:
  • Get a baseline iron and iron binding and possibly a ferritin.
  • Follow her to see if treatment with aspirin improves things once the inflammatory reaction cools down.
Could this white count be a bother ?                                      Back
