Clinical course of Hodgkin Disease.
  • Most present with painless enlargement of a lymph node.
  • Constitutional symptoms may or may not be present.
    • The "A" designation indicates the absence of symptoms.
    • The "B" designation indicates the presence of symptoms. Examples
      1. Weight loss (10% of body weight)
      2. Fever
      3. Night sweats
  • Biopsy is required for diagnosis and classification
  • Staging is required to evaluate extent of spread and therapy.
    • Abdominal and chest CT
    • Laparotomy if indicated by CT (liver and lymph node biopsies, possibly splenectomy).
    • Bilateral iliac crest bone marrow aspirates with biopsy.
