About Us

Welcome to the Medical Sciences Service Learning Webpage.

Here you will find information about the Medical Sciences Service learning projects available to you.  It is our mission to not only provide the best in medical education, but also offer a diversity of community experience that will enrich both mind and spirit.

What are the goals of service learning projects at Medical Sciences?

  • To promote a lifelong commitment to community service through innovative service-learning experiences.
  • To directly show how service learning projects in the community setting provide a learning laboratory for competency based skills that are now an integral part of the curriculum at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
  • The Medical Sciences Service Learning  program complements the traditional medical education curriculum in order to prepare tomorrow's physicians for the public responsibilities as advocates of the health and well-being of the community.
If you would like more information about the many opportunities for service learning here in the Medical Sciences program, or have an idea of your own for a project, please contact either Dr. Mark Braun, or Dr. John Watkins.  Below are links to the various programs currently available through Medical Sciences.
