Thin Skin 1

The epidermis of thin skin is composed of four specific layers. These layers, from deepest to most superficial, are:

  • stratum basale
  • stratum spinosum
  • stratum granulosum, and
  • stratum corneum.

Note there is no stratum lucidum in thin skin.

Similar to thick skin, the dermis of thin skin is made up of dense irregular connective tissue and may be divided into two specific layers.

  • Papillary layer (1) and the reticular layer (2).
