What determines treatment?
  • Treatment is determined by:
    • Stage of disease (its extent of spread),
    • Bulk of disease and,
    • Presence or absence of "B" symptoms.
  • Localized radiation alone is recommended for:
    • Stage I and IIA
  • Patients  with IIB disease have a high relapse rate:
    • They receive chemotherapy followed by
    • Radiation therapy.
  • Patients with massive lymph node involvement:
    • Receive "debulking chemotherapy," followed by
    • Radiation.
  • Patients with IIIB and IV HD have widespread disease.
    • They receive chemotherapy.
