As a matter of course, the clerk had requested any chart from previous admissions be sent from medical records. As it turns out, Julie had been admitted at the age of eleven months, following an injury. At that time, she and her mother had been visiting at a friend's house, about the time Julie was just learning to walk.
Mrs. Mackenzie's friend did not have children, so the house wasn't "baby proofed." Julie had a serious fall down the basement stairs, fracturing two ribs. Julie's aunt was unaware of this history.
