The problem once again: Julie's cough.
  • It certainly looks like Julie is not the victim of child abuse.
    • We can, it seems, forego calling Welfare.
  • She was brought in because of a cough and low grade fever.
  • Her CBC is not diagnostic of an infectious process. 
    • Yes, she does have a few atypical lymphocytes, but this isn't necessarily diagnostic of a viral illness.
  • Her eosinophil count, however, suggests an allergic problem.
    • The presence of wheezes reinforces this assumption.
  • There seems no need for antibiotics.
  • We can treat her symptoms.
  • She can continue with day care.
  • There seems no reason for the parents to return.
  • Allergen testing would be a good idea.
