Blunt force abdominal injuries may not always be immediately apparent.
Abdominal blunt force, such as a punch with a fist, may lead to:

Lacerated liver or spleen,
which would lead almost immediately to hemorrhagic shock.

Contusion to bowel, may be
subtle.

Duodenum and small bowel are
especially susceptible because of proximity to spine.

Contused portion of bowel will
break down.

May lead to peritonitis, several
days after injury.
