Mr.
Herbert had a fairly unremarkable post operative course.

He did have some pretty significant incisional
pain, but this was controlled effectively with analgesics.

He put up with the discomfort of the N/G
tube for three days, but the tube was removed as soon as his bowel function
returned.

Evidenced by the joyous passing of gas.
-
The only post operative concern was a
low grade fever on the second post-op day.

Not a terribly uncommon event following
abdominal surgery.

The fever was thought due to post-operative
atelectasis, still he was continued on prophylactic antibiotics.
There is one last matter.
Mr. Herbert had
an enlarged liver.
