Mr. Herbert had a fairly unremarkable post operative course.
  • He did have some pretty significant incisional pain, but this was controlled effectively with analgesics.
  • He put up with the discomfort of the N/G tube for three days, but the tube was removed as soon as his bowel function returned.
    • Evidenced by the joyous passing of gas. 
  • The only post operative concern was a low grade fever on the second post-op day. 
    • Not a terribly uncommon event following abdominal surgery. 
    • The fever was thought due to post-operative atelectasis, still he was continued on prophylactic antibiotics.
There is one last matter.
