The
ear is divided into outer, middle, and inner regions with associated
structures modified for sound perception.
In addition, receptors for the senses of balance and spatial
orientation comprise the vestibular apparatus which is a part of the
inner ear.
Learning objectives for the ear:
- Understand the overall
organization of the ear, and the major components of the middle
and inner ear regions.
- Understand the location and
structure of the cochlea and its compartments and the location and
formation of endolymph.
- Recognize and understand the
function of hair cells in the cochlear organ of Corti and the
vestibular portions of the inner ear.
Let's now look at some
particulars of the eye. |
