Fibrocartilage
contains large bundles of collagen fibers in its extracellular
matrix, interspersed with areas of more hyaline (glassy or
translucent) ground substance.

note that it lacks a perichondrium.
How does the location of
fibrocartilage help explain why it must be different from hyaline
and elastic cartilage?
Elastic cartilage resembles
hyaline cartilage somewhat in histological, appearance unless
special stains are used to reveal the elastic fibers (Fig. 7-4).
