The plaques of multiple sclerosis. 

Plaques of MS

  • Slightly depressed, well circumscribed, gray-tan, glassy areas of white matter destruction. (Roll cursor over image.)
  • In the fresh state, these are firmer than the surrounding white matter (hence the term sclerosis). 
  • Often paraventricular.
