Laboratory values
with APS
- Thrombocytopenia
- Moderate to high anti-cardiolipin
antibodies
- Either IgG or IgM,
- On two occasions 12 weeks apart.
- Other serology:
- ANA may be present in low titers.
- Anti-ss DNA frequently seen.
- Coombs +/-, maybe hemolytic anemia.

- Antiphospholipid antibodies
- IgG, IgM or even IgA.
- Directed against proteins of the clotting
system that bind to the phospholipids.
- Prothrombin.
- Beta2-Glycoprotein-1 (B2-GP1).
OK, so we have a state of hypercoagulability
masquerading as a prolonged aPTT.
