Slide 129: Rectal hemorrhoids
This is obviously a strip from the wall of the rectum. If you look at it on a white background, you should be able to easily spot the dilated hemorrhoidal veins.

Note the dilated and thin walled vessels in the sub-mucosa. Some are thrombosed, and some may have an inflammatory infiltrate in the wall or the surrounding tissue.
What causes this condition? Where else would you expect to find them?
