Slide 225: Bladder with invasive transition cell carcinoma

In this specimen, the bladder wall is invaded and almost completely replaced with malignant transition cells. I'm not too sure there is anything passing for normal mucosa. Only remnants of the smooth muscle remain.

See this slide with the virtual microscope.

Note here the remnant of smooth muscle of the bladder wall. You see islands and clusters of the malignancy growing in between the bundles of smooth muscle. Note also the clustering or grouping of the cells into little morules.
