Kaposi sarcoma (KS), a tumor
of mesenchymal cell origin.

Other than in AIDS patients,
KS is rare.

KS is the most common neoplasm
in AIDS patients.

KS is more common in homosexual
and bisexual men with AIDS than those who contracted AIDS through intravenous
drug use.

KS sometimes arise early, even
before there is significant immune system compromise.

Grossly, the lesions
appear as purple-red raised subcutaneous nodules.

cell capable of forming vascular channels.
