Kaposi sarcoma in AIDS patients
  • The malignant mesenchymal cells are induced to grow by growth factors and cytokines released by tumor cells themselves and HIV infected T-cells.
  • KSHV infected B-cells also contribute to proliferation of the malignant mesenchymal cells.
  • Tumor spreads widely; skin, GI, lymph nodes and lung.
Non-Hodgkin lymphomas in AIDS patients.
  • Observed in 6% of AIDS patients
