Self limiting, flu-like, febrile
illness in 50-70% of patients.

Cervical lymphadenopathy

Diarrhea and vomiting

Symptoms develop 3-6 weeks after
infection

Symptoms spontaneously resolves
2-4 weeks later.
The early, acute phase is
characterized by:

High level of virus production
-
Wide spread infection and seeding
of lymphoid tissues.

Rarely recognized as HIV infection.
