The material on this page I downloaded from the USMLE website and all of it is free and perfectly legal
. In order to use it, you will need to transfer the executable file to your computer and install the test-taker module. Here’s what to do.
  • Somewhere on your C drive, make a folder labeled USMLE.
  • Click here to download the USMLE simulator application.
    • Choose the 'save as' option and put the file in the folder you just made.
  • Double click this file and follow the instructions.
  • It should put a link in your ‘Programs’ menu called ‘2007 USMLE CBP Practice’.
  • Click this to get a menu screen for the sample exams.
  • Here's another important file regarding the USMLE step 1.
Concerning the test simulator, you may have to reset your screen resolution so it looks just like what you will see on the real test.

I’m not sure, but I believe you can only take the samples once, so you may need to ’uninstall’ the program and the reinstall it to reset the internal clock. For what it’s worth, there are lots of sites out there with practice questions and tips for the test. Just run USMLE up in Google and see what happens. If you get a particularly good site, please let me know and share it with the others.

I hope this helps.  MB
