Physical findings
- Otieno appears shocky with warm and dry
skin.
- There is 2+ tenting of the skin of his
forearms.
- His chest is clear to auscultation and heart
sounds are within normal limits.
- Abdominal exam reveals:
- Absent bowel sounds
- Abdominal rigidity
- Guarding and rebound tenderness
- Otieno's brother had just enough money
to cover the cost of an X-Ray ($1.50).
- Otieno's film is to the right.
- If this looks normal to you, roll the
cursor over the image.
- Blood cultures were drawn, but because
it will take several days for results, a surgeon was called.
- Blood smear for malaria is positive.
