Morphology of the lesion
- Macule: area of altered color without
change in elevation or texture.
- Papule: raised solid lesion < 5mm
diameter.
- Nodule: raised solid lesion > 5mm
diameter.
- Plaque: plateau-like solid elevation.
- Vesicle: fluid filled lesion < 5mm
diameter.
- Bulla: fluid filled lesion > 5mm
diameter.
- Wheal: transient, localized area of
edema and reddening.
- Scale: thickened area of stratum
corneum.
- Crust: dried serum or pus
- Ulcer: localized area of denuded skin
