Team-Based Learning, Case Development & Assessment

Online Case and Authoring Resources

MedEdPortal:  Although the navigation is a little tricky, this is a great source of cases that can be adapted for either team or problem-based learning.

New England Journal of Medicine: Just type in case studies and you'll find a wealth of cases ready to be adapted to team or problem-based learning.

Medscape: This is actually a pathology site, but it's loaded with a variety of cases and continuing medical education modules. Another great source.

Team-based and problem-based leaning lends itself well to interdisciplinary and integrated clinical exercises and problems. As we move forward looking at sample cases and clinical situations, look for opportunities to incorporate these elements.

Occasional issue with some of the PDF files: Mischief has gotten into some of the PDF files. Every now and then one will not open when you click the link. I'm not sure of the problem, but I've found that if you close the new window and click again on the link, the file will open. I have also found that if you download the file to your own computer (right click and choose the 'save as' option), you can open the saved copy without problem. Unsolved mystery.

Moving on to week one.
