• Screwy proteins
• Leiden factor V (multiple variants, 5% of people).
• Abnormal Prothrombin
• Once turned on, these two can't be shut off.
• Hyperhomocysteinemia (MI at young age; folate)
• Endothelial injury
• Antiphospholipid syndrome
(APS)
• Prolonged aPTT, but really hypercoagulable.
• Protein C & S deficiency (remember Coumadin)
• Antithrombin III deficiency.
• High levels of clotting factors
• Cancer
• Estrogens and birth control pills

• Be extra careful if you're asked to be a belly gunner in a B17 (stasis and immobilization).
• Even more stuff just in case you were getting complacent.
