Morbidity and mortality patterns
- According to the Kenya Demographic
Health Survey, vital indicators have worsened over the past 10 years.
- Infant mortality has risen since 1993
from 67/1000 live births to 73.7/1000.
- Crude Birth Rate has fallen from 52/1000
to 38/1000.
- Crude Death Rate has fallen from 14 to
11 per 1000.

years for males in 1989 to less than 50 years in 1999.
- These worsening health status indicators
are due to a number of factors.
