Welcome to Kenya

  • The country has a varied landscape of plateaus and high mountains.
  • The climate ranges from arid to semi-arid and only 18% of its 600,000 square km is arable.
  • Eldoret all but sits on the equator, which virtually divides Kenya in half.
  • The country is home to many different ethnic groups and regional languages.
  • Swahili is the principal language although English is common.

  • Kenya has a population of 28.8 million, however the growth rates has been declining since 1979 and now stands at 2.7%.
