Yes, it could be 'morning sickness', but more likely the vomiting is self-induced.
  • There is an uncommon situation known as hyperemesis gravidarum (HG). A debilitating and potentially life-threatening pregnancy disease, HG is marked by rapid weight loss, malnutrition, and dehydration due to unrelenting nausea and/or vomiting with potential adverse consequences for the fetus.
Mrs. Franklin admits she is inducing the vomiting and purging, but is now concerned for the health of her baby.

What is the expected weight gain during a 'singleton' pregnancy for someone of Mrs. Franklin's size?

  • For the duration of the pregnancy, 15-25 pounds
