The
accelerated phase, and blast crisis of CML
-
After about 3 years,
about 50% of patients enter an accelerated phase.

Generalized marrow failure
with increased percentage of blasts.
-
Increased numbers of basophils
in the peripheral smear.
-
The blast crisis, essentially
conversion to an acute leukemia, typically comes about 6 months
after the beginning of the accelerated phase.
